A day in the life…

As the District Manager, you will uphold the integrity of the Russell Stover Chocolates product line and image by effectively managing all aspects of the Retail Shops operations. You will work closely with General Managers, Shop Personnel, and appropriate Corporate Personnel to ensure that all areas of concern are addressed in a timely manner.

What you will be doing…

Management

  • Provide leadership for Management Team, promote equality and emulate appropriate behaviors.
  • Hold accountability to and exhibit our vales of Excellence, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Responsibility and Collaboration
  • Support the Management Team through guidance and interaction.
  • Perform coaching conversations and performance reviews for assigned reports.
  • Track the daily operations and cost of business through the monitoring of Sales, Labor Costs, COGS and Inventory Controls.
  • Ensure that the shops are meeting or exceeding expectations of company goals in terms of profitability and performance.

Communication

  • Communicates regularly with shops on goals and performance issues in regard to Sales, P.L, Service, and best business practices.
  • Work through the Management Team and appropriate Corporate Personnel to design, develop, and initiate local marketing programs.
  • Promote the Russell Stover Chocolates product and shops by upholding corporate image.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of organization on any needs-based issues.
  • Promote the open-door policy through effective and timely communication to all areas of the organization.
  • Ensure that shops are meeting or exceeding expectations of company goals in terms of profitability and performance.

Selection and Development

  • Work in tandem with the Human Resources department to analyze and continually evolve training programs.
  • Take an active role in the selection, interview, and hiring process of management and supervisory personnel.
  • Counsel, coach, and guide the Management Team on proper techniques, operational issues, and human resources.
  • Take a proactive approach in the development of Shop Personnel through interactions with Human Resources and the Management Team.
  • Ensure that the quality of service provided to both Guests and Shop Personnel is exemplary.
  • Monitor and instruct performance of all relevant areas using store audits.
  • Work with appropriate areas of the organization to further develop the skill level of the Management Team.
  • Ensure that shops are meeting or exceeding expectations of company goals in terms of profitability and performance.

Working Conditions   

  • Spends 10-20% of time at desk working on computer or telephone or at Corporate Office
  • Spends 80% of time Supervising, training and visiting site locations as assigned
  • Travel as directed by Team Leader to support stores in development and success throughout the year.

Do you have what it takes? 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management (or related degree) or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of managing a multi-unit retail environment 
  • Supervisory experience with a proven ability to manage and develop staff
  • Previous experience managing P&L
  • Ability to travel in the US up to 75% of the time
  • Strong analytical Skills
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Knowledge of POS systems, MICROS preferred
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office products
  • Must live in the Kansas City or surrounding area – no relocation supported
