A day in the life…

The Training Coordinator will lead site training programs and events in support of Operations, & LPW initiatives. They will guide the implementation of the skills matrix, new learning systems and tools by strategically developing unique training programs fulfilling fellow workers specific needs to maintain/improve job skills and overall work environment. 

What you will be doing…

  • Participate and maintain a positive and supportive work culture developing trusting relationships with peers and others in the organization
  • Work with area specific experts to train new employees as well as cross transfer skills horizontally across the factory.
  • Evaluate and monitor equipment training effectiveness and skill gap analysis, always looking for improvement opportunities.
  • Meet with Operations, Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse and Human Resources on a regular basis to identify near term ongoing training needs. Work with department management to identify training/transfer opportunities. Help to define the training organization within the plant.
  • Maintain site training record systems including an up to-date list of individual qualifications, and position requirements.
  • Assists with development and implementation of training aids such as One Point Lessons (OPLs), Standard Work Instructions (SWI), manuals and handbooks, and other training tools.
  • Assess internal trainers regarding the ability to teach using specific methodology (educational staircase…)
  • Facilitate learning based on site requirements through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, hands-on training, on-the-job coaching, and virtual or computer-based training, using 70/20/10 learning principles
  • Work with corporate training manager to evaluate, standardize and continuously improve training material and methodology.
  • Work with all Departments to organize and implement site training needs outside of equipment training such as LPW tools/practices, Safety, Quality, or methods of Problem solving.
  • Develop, Manage, and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment.
  • May identify external training programs or groups to address ongoing training needs or improvements to current programs.
  • May conduct new employee and contractor orientation programs with sign offs and documentation records electronically/manually.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Do you have what it takes?
(Basic Qualifications)

  • Comfortable with managing cloud-based data systems.
  • Knowledge of adult instructional techniques and learning theory
  • Familiar with training techniques and strategies.
  • Site equipment operation knowledge is a strong asset.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year lead or supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, ...
  • Can utilize project planning and video editing tools
  • Organized and has attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize tasks to address the most critical and pressing demands first.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to routinely and frequently sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, climb and lift.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in extreme cold, extreme heat, extreme wet or humidity.

What it’s like at the Russell Stover Plants

  • Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide protective gear. We also go through an in-depth Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training on your first day and continue to share safety tips daily
  • Surroundings. You’ll be working around different machines – Schubert’s, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and chocolate candy banks/steels.
  • Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs/ladders, and routinely lift 50 lbs.
  • Temperature. You will be comfortable year-round with our climate-controlled environment. Our temperatures are consistently around 63°F but could fluctuate depending on your specific role.
  • Smell. You will enjoy a variety of deliciously sweet aromas and you may end your day smelling like chocolate!
  • Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for food safety, personal safety and in guidance with our good manufacturing practices (GMP). Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required. Leather, imitation leather, or rubber boots or shoes must be worn in the kitchen and other areas when working around hot liquid/product or hot water.
