A day in the life…

Can you help enchant the world with chocolate and make our online customers happy? Do you want to work for the third largest American chocolate manufacturer? In the role of Director of Digital you will be responsible for the strategic roadmap of the digital business across all digital touchpoints, including our D2C eCommerce website (russellstover.com), our marketplace business (Amazon, Walmart Marketplace and others), our bricks and clicks channel partnering with the sales team to support our retail partners in grocery, mass and drug online, as well as overarching sales and marketing guidance for Retail and Social Media. You will be the driver of our strong growth pillars built around online Availability, Visibility, Conversion and Management and will be an advocate for both online sales and Digitally influenced sales at every level from CEO through to sales and marketing managers.

Responsible for delivering against our Digital strategy and continually growing net trade sales and profitability in the online channel by leading a team of six (four direct reports) – you will be a dynamic, engaging and passionate digital expert, capable of influencing and educating stakeholders at junior and senior levels both within Russell Stover chocolates and within the wider Lindt & Sprungli group in North America and globally.


 

What you will be doing…

Our Digital strategy operates around 4 key pillars: Availability, Visibility, Conversion and Management – the successful candidate will be able to our overall digital business within this framework with a focus on driving greater Online Availability, Visibility and Conversion of Russell Stover products:

  • Support the implementation of the Russel Stover Digital vision, strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment both within the still fairly new Digital team, and across the wider business.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing leads to help achieve their goals, in alignment with L&S group goals for eCommerce and Digital performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance and supply chain to drive effective reporting and efficiencies in one of the most complex parts of the Russell Stover business.
  • Engage and support the wider D2C team, leveraging appropriate synergies to grow our online business alongside our Retail store business.
  • Be the leadership champion for all Digital agency and supplier relationships, conducting regular reviews to ensure performance targets are being met.
  • Be the subject matter expert (SME) for digital, constantly striving to be at the forefront of digital developments. Cascading this knowledge within the digital team and the wider organization to improve understanding and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Managing four direct reports on their performance and personal development, as well as managerial style and approach where relevant.

 

Do you have what it takes? 

(Basic Qualifications)

  • A Bachelor's degree and up to 8 years of related experience / equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Amazon and other Marketplaces: both Vendor (1P) and Seller (3P) approaches.
  • Experience in leading, nurturing, motivating and energizing a complex team.
  • Experience in stakeholder management at a C-suite and Group Management Level.
  • Proficient in Citrus, Criteo, WMC and other search and retail media networks across bricks & clicks.
  • Ability to take complex data examples and summarize cohesively to bring both internal management, international colleagues and wider Russell Stover teams on Digital journey.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, and operational planning. Team player who can deliver.
  • High level of professionalism, energy and sense of urgency to “make things happen”.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, strong sense of empathy and ability to be decisive.
  • A strategic thinker who can ‘connect the dots’ and see the bigger picture, and plan accordingly.
  • Able to work effectively within a fast-changing environment, adapting to tight deadlines and prioritize changes.

 

Do you stand above the rest? 

(Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience constructing full-funnel marketing plans involving Retail and Social Media.
  • Experience with Salsify or Syndigo PIM systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Digital Shelf Analytics tools (e.g. Data Impact, Profitero etc) a plus.
