A day in the life…

As a Forklift Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient movement of materials and finished products throughout our facility. Your primary responsibilities will include transporting materials to work areas, moving finished goods to storage, and returning unused materials to their designated locations. You will also be tasked with tasks such as placing pallet tops, banding and shrink-wrapping skids, moving trash bales, and loading trash trailers.

In addition, you will use scanning equipment to accurately track inventory movement and ensure proper placement in storage. Maintaining accurate counts and entering data into the system is essential. Other duties may include maintaining the printer for the shrink wrapper, managing ribbons and labels, assisting with loading and unloading trucks, and supporting plant management with additional tasks as needed.

A TYPICAL SCHEDULE FOR THIS ROLE IS 8 HR SHIFTS MONDAY - FRIDAY. START AND END TIMES WILL VARY WITH THE EARLIEST START BEING 8:00AM AND THE LATEST END TIME BEING  4:30PM. DURING PEAK SEASON, OVERTIME MAY BE REQUIRED

What you will be doing…

  • Operating machinery in a safe and proficient manner according to standards, guidelines, and instructions.
  • Unloading and loading trailers.
  • Using handheld scanners to receive orders and put away products into storage locations.
  • Verifying and maintaining inventory.
  • Performing routine inventory counts to ensure accuracy and maintain proper stock levels.
  • Issuing products to the production lines.
  • Consolidating product as needed.
  • Keeping the area clean and organized to be audit ready.
  • Adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines to ensure product quality and uphold food safety standards.
  • Learning to Identify and address potential food safety hazards, process deviations, or non-conformities, while maintaining proactive communication with supervisors.
  • Documenting food safety and quality procedures, maintaining detailed records of monitoring, verification, and corrective actions.

 

Do you have what it takes?
(Basic Qualifications)

  • Must be able to operate and maintain a forklift.
  • Strong numerical skills with the ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
  • Able to perform quality control checks.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Must be able to pass forklift certification training within the first day.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • 2 or more years’ experience operating a forklift.
  • Experience operating a handheld scanner.
  • A passion for learning

What it’s like at the Russell Stover Plants

  • Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide protective gear. We also go through an in-depth Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training on your first day and continue to share safety tips daily.
  • Surroundings. You’ll be working around different machines – Schubert’s, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and chocolate candy banks/steels.
  • Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs/ladders, and routinely lift 50 lbs.
  • Temperature. You will be comfortable year-round with our climate-controlled environment. Our temperatures are consistently around 63°F but could fluctuate depending on your specific role. Temperatures within the warehouse are more consistent with the outdoor temperature.
  • Smell. You will enjoy a variety of deliciously sweet aromas and you may end your day smelling like chocolate!
  • Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for food safety, personal safety and in guidance with our good manufacturing practices (GMP). Comfortable, safety toe (composite) slip resistant shoes are required. Leather, imitation leather, rubber boots or shoes must be worn in the kitchen and other areas when working around hot liquid/product or hot water.
